Funzione e contesto tecnico

L'anodo sacrificale protegge le parti metalliche sommerse del motore fuoribordo dalla corrosione galvanica, un processo elettrochimico che degrada progressivamente l'alluminio e altri metalli a contatto con acqua salata o salmastra. Questo componente funge da elemento consumabile all'interno del sistema di protezione catodica del motore: ossidandosi preferenzialmente preserva le parti strutturali del monoblocco, della scatola trasmissione e del piede motore. Senza un buon anodo, la corrosione galvanica può compromettere seriamente componenti vitali del fuoribordo come l'elica, l'albero di coda o l'involucro inferiore, portando a riparazioni molto costose.

Quando sostituire questa parte?

L'usura dell'anodo è visibile ad occhio nudo: quando ha perso tra il 50% e il 75% della sua massa, deve essere sostituito senza indugio. In ambienti di acqua salata o con elevata conduttività elettrica (porte con correnti parassite), il consumo può essere molto più rapido. La pratica consigliata è quella di verificare lo stato dell'anodo all'inizio e alla fine di ogni stagione nautica, e sostituirlo preventivamente almeno una volta all'anno; Ritardare la sostituzione può lasciare il motore senza protezione catodica attiva e causare danni irreversibili in aree di difficile accesso.
