SYNTHETIC MARINE OIL 10W40 20L
Description
Function and technical context
10W40 synthetic marine oil acts as a lubrication fluid in the internal lubrication system of the outboard or inboard engine, reducing friction between pistons, crankshaft, camshaft and other highly loaded moving components. As it is a synthetic formulation, it offers greater viscous stability against temperature variations typical of the marine environment, maintaining the lubricant film both during cold starts and during long days of navigation at full load. The 10W40 viscosity makes it especially suitable for engines operating in temperate and hot climates, guaranteeing rapid oil flow at start-up and the necessary protection at operating temperatures. Degraded or insufficient oil can cause accelerated wear of internal components, increased friction, engine overheating and even irreversible seizure of the assembly.
When to replace this oil?
Symptoms that your marine oil has reached the end of its useful life include a dark or blackened color on the dipstick, foam or emulsion (a sign of water contamination), a burning smell, and increased oil consumption between changes. In four-stroke marine engines, it is recommended to change the oil every 100 hours of operation or at the beginning of each nautical season, whichever comes first, following the engine manufacturer's instructions. Changing the oil preventively, without waiting for degradation symptoms to appear, is the most effective measure to protect the engine, avoid costly breakdowns on board and prolong the useful life of the propeller.
