Function and technical context

This synthetic four-stroke lubricant with 25W40 viscosity is specifically formulated for marine inboard engines, where working conditions are more demanding than in land applications: sudden thermal variations, saline environment and prolonged load cycles. It acts in the engine lubrication system, protecting the internal components - crankshaft, camshaft, pistons and bearings - through a stable oil film that minimizes friction wear. Its synthetic base guarantees greater resistance to oxidation and deposit formation compared to conventional mineral oils, maintaining internal engine tolerances within design ranges for longer. The 25W40 viscosity offers optimal performance both in cold starts and under full load, which is critical in inboard engines that operate continuously during long days of navigation. Degraded or inadequate oil can cause overheating, premature wear of internal components and, in extreme cases, engine seizure.

When to change the oil?

The most common symptoms that indicate that the oil has lost its properties are: dark color and dirty appearance when removing the dipstick, recurrently below the minimum level, metallic noises inside the engine or increase in operating temperature without apparent cause in the cooling system. In marine inboard engines, it is recommended to change the engine oil every 100 hours of navigation or at the beginning of each season, whichever comes first, following the engine manufacturer's instructions. Performing an oil change in a preventive and timely manner is the maintenance measure with the best cost-benefit ratio to avoid serious breakdowns at sea.
