When to replace this part?

The anodes should be inspected at least once a season, ideally at each beaching or annual inspection, and replaced whenever wear exceeds half of the material. Renewing the anode preventively at the beginning of each sailing season is the practice recommended by specialized nautical workshops: the cost of an anode is minimal compared to repairing a shaft, propeller or block corroded through carelessness.
