E SERIES PROPELLER NUCLEUS SOLRBX-104
Description
Function and technical context
The propeller core is the internal component of the hub that acts as a shock absorption and torque transmission element between the propulsion shaft and the propeller. It works within the propulsion system, allowing the propeller to rotate integrally with the shaft under normal navigation conditions and, at the same time, protecting the transmission from impacts with submerged objects or grounding, absorbing the impact before damage reaches more expensive components such as the shaft or gearbox. In high-power Suzuki outboard engines, where the torque transmitted is high, the integrity of the core is crucial to maintaining efficient and reliable propulsion at all times.
When to replace this part?
The most common symptoms of a damaged propeller core are propeller slippage under load (the engine revs up without the boat accelerating proportionally), abnormal vibrations when giving throttle or loss of response in acceleration maneuvers. It is recommended to inspect the core every season or whenever the propeller has suffered a blow, since the inner rubber can be compromised without visible external damage. Replacing it preventively after a strong impact avoids being left without propulsion at sea and protects the rest of the transmission line.
