Function and technical context

Quicksilver 25W40 oil for four-stroke inboard engines acts as the main lubricant for all internal moving components of the propeller: crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, camshaft and distribution. Specifically formulated for four-stroke marine engines with high duty cycles and constant exposure to humidity and salt, its 25W40 viscosity guarantees a stable lubricant film both at cold start and under full load at high temperatures. Insufficient lubrication or the use of inappropriate oil causes premature wear of friction surfaces, loss of compression and, in extreme cases, engine seizure, which can lead to immobilization of the boat and a very high-cost repair. This 6-liter format presented in six 1-liter containers facilitates both a complete oil change and level refueling between maintenance, adapting to most medium and high-power four-stroke inboard engines.

When to replace this oil?

Symptoms that indicate that the oil has exhausted its properties are bluish smoke from the exhaust, increased lubricant consumption between changes, the viscous and dark feel of the oil when checking it on the dipstick, and a perceptible increase in mechanical noise at idle. For four-stroke inboard engines in marine use, the recommended change interval is 100 hours of navigation or at least once a season, always following the engine manufacturer's instructions. Performing a preventive oil change at the beginning or end of each season is the simplest and most economical maintenance measure to prolong the useful life of the engine and avoid serious breakdowns at sea.
