ANODO HELICE J-PROP Ø90 (ZN)
Description
Function and technical context
The J-PROP propeller anode with a diameter of 90 mm is a cathodic protection element specifically designed to be installed in the propeller hub of boats with tail or outer shaft exposed to water. Made of high-purity zinc, it acts as a sacrificial metal: being electrochemically more active than the stainless steel, bronze or aluminum of the propeller and shaft, it corrodes in a controlled manner instead of the propulsion components. Its function within the propulsion system is critical, since without adequate cathodic protection, galvanic corrosion directly attacks the propeller shaft, the hub and the fixing accessories, compromising the structural integrity of the propulsion system and potentially generating vibrations, loss of thrust and serious navigation breakdowns. The 90 mm diameter makes it compatible with medium-large propellers common on boats between 7 and 14 meters in length.
When to replace this part?
A propeller anode must be replaced when it has lost between 40% and 50% of its mass or has a completely rough, darkened and irregularly eroded surface; If it reaches the end of the season practically intact, it may be a sign of a poorly sized cathodic protection circuit or an electrical continuity problem in the helmet. The recommended inspection is annual, coinciding with the winter stranding or seasonal tune-up, although in waters with high salinity or in boats with complex electrical installations it is advisable to inspect it every six months. Replacing the anode preventively before launching is the most economical measure to avoid corrosion of the propeller shaft, the hub and the sealing seals, the repair of which can involve a much higher cost.
Compatibility
| Aplicación / Sistema | Observaciones |
|---|---|
