Description

Function and Technical Context

This fuel filter with bracket acts as a protective barrier for the fuel supply system, retaining contaminant particles through its 28-micron filter element before they reach the injectors or carburetor. It operates within the fuel supply circuit, positioned between the tank and the engine, handling flow rates of up to 50 GPH to ensure constant, uninterrupted flow. The integrated aluminum bracket provides robust mounting and corrosion resistance in marine environments, while the 1/4" NPTF inlet ensures a tight connection compatible with various piping configurations. The assembly is completed with 2 bronze plugs and 1 extension tube, components that guarantee hermetic sealing of the filter chamber and homogeneous fuel distribution. Should this component fail or become obstructed, the engine may experience fuel supply interruptions, loss of power, rough operation at high RPM, or irreversible damage to the injection system.

When to Replace This Component?

The most common symptoms of a deteriorated or obstructed fuel filter include hesitation or surging during acceleration, difficult cold starts, unstable idle, and sudden power loss at full throttle. It is recommended to inspect and replace the marine fuel filter at a minimum each season or every 100 operating hours, whichever occurs first, especially on electronically fuel-injected engines where fuel contamination can damage high-cost components. Replacing this filter preventively during seasonal maintenance is the most economical measure to avoid a fuel system failure thousands of meters offshore.
