Function and technical context

Mariner Outboard Finish Paint in Gray is a technical coating specifically formulated to protect the exterior surfaces of marine engines against the continuous aggression of the marine environment: salt humidity, ultraviolet rays, splashes and condensation. It acts as a protective barrier on casings, cylinder covers, supports and aluminum and light alloy components typical of outboards, preserving both the surface integrity of the metal and the aesthetics of the engine. Applying the factory color Mariner gray guarantees faithful color replacement after repairs, replacement of parts or any mechanical intervention that has deteriorated the surface finish. Without an adequate coating, metal surfaces are exposed to electrochemical oxidation and galvanic corrosion, processes that advance rapidly in a marine environment and can compromise the useful life of structural components of the engine.

When to apply or renew this coating?

The need to repaint is detected visually: appearance of peeling, blisters, areas of surface rust or loss of uniform color on the outboard shell are clear signs that the coating has exhausted its protective capacity. It is recommended to check the condition of the finish during each seasonal maintenance and to repaint whenever mechanical intervention has been done on parts that have lost their paint layer, especially after replacing covers, supports or components of the engine cover.
