The aluminum anode ref. 3855411 is a cathodic protection component designed specifically for Volvo Penta and OMC marine propulsion systems. Its function is to protect the submerged metal surfaces of the aft tail against galvanic corrosion, sacrificing itself electrochemically in the saline environment. This anode ensures the structural integrity of the aluminum and steel components of the marine transmission, preventing oxidation damage in salt water.

Anode technical characteristics
This sacrificial anode works through galvanic cathodic protection, establishing an electrochemical potential difference that displaces corrosion from the structural components of the transmission to the anode itself. It is made of high-purity aluminum, a material selected for its controlled consumption rate and its effectiveness in salt water. Installation and maintenance
