The 41100276 plate anode is part of the cathodic protection system of the Volvo Penta drive train, acting as a sacrificial element in the bow thruster area. Its function is to oxidize preferentially compared to the structural metals of the propellant, diverting towards itself the galvanic corrosion processes generated by the potential difference between dissimilar materials submerged in salt or brackish water. The flat plate geometry allows its direct fixation in the bow area, guaranteeing localized electrochemical coverage in an area especially exposed to corrosive attack.
