Volvo Penta SX Magnesium Anode Kit – Marine Cathodic Protection
The magnesium anode kit for Volvo Penta SX series engines constitutes a cathodic protection system designed to prevent galvanic corrosion in submerged components. This sacrificial anode preferentially oxidizes over metal engine parts, prolonging the life of the cylinder head, blocks and cooling systems exposed to salt water and aggressive marine environments.
The magnesium composition offers a higher galvanic potential than the ferrous and copper components of the motor, guaranteeing effective protection in fresh and salt water systems. Its installation is essential in vessels that operate in salt water to avoid structural damage and loss of propellant performance.
