Description

Function and Technical Context

This 25-micron fuel filter acts as a protective barrier in the fuel supply system of outboard or inboard engines, retaining solid particles, sediments and contaminants present in diesel or gasoline before they reach the fuel pump and injectors or carburetors. Its 25-micron filtration threshold ensures clean and constant flow to the combustion components, preserving the supply pressure necessary for optimal engine performance. A clogged or deteriorated filter can cause power loss, poor starting, unexpected shutdowns during navigation and even serious damage to the fuel pump, making its maintenance a priority task within any marine service plan. The 3-3/4" diameter makes it compatible with multiple standard filter housing installations used by major marine engine manufacturers.

When to Replace This Part?

The most common symptoms of a clogged or faulty marine fuel filter are: difficulty starting the engine in cold conditions, jerking or power loss at full load, RPM fluctuations at cruising speed and sudden shutdowns especially under maximum fuel demand. As a general maintenance rule, it is recommended to replace the fuel filter every season or every 100 hours of navigation, whichever comes first, following the standard guidelines for Mercury, Mercruiser, Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda engines. Replacing it preventively at the start of each season is the simplest and most cost-effective measure to avoid breakdowns at sea and protect the injection components, whose repair is considerably more expensive.
