Function and technical context

Small series grease is a lubricant for specific application in outboard engines and marine transmission systems, designed to protect metal surfaces in contact with salt and fresh water. Acts as a protective barrier on joints, threads, bearings, couplings and moving parts exposed to humidity and marine corrosion. Its function within the transmission and drive system is to reduce friction wear and prevent the adhesion of dissimilar metallic elements that could generate galvanic corrosion. Without adequate lubrication at these critical points, components seize, make disassembly difficult, and accelerate premature degradation of adjacent parts.

When to replace this part?

The small series grease must be applied or renewed at each seasonal maintenance, as well as each time the elements it lubricates are dismantled: steering shafts, anode screws, rudder pins, propeller hub couplings or transmission housing gaskets. Symptoms indicating insufficient lubrication include difficulty turning the steering wheel, metallic noises in the axle area, resistance to disassembly of threaded elements, and the appearance of rust on surfaces that should be protected. Applying marine grease preventively at each inspection avoids costly interventions due to advanced corrosion or breakage of seized components while sailing.
