The Solas RBX-150 D Series propeller hub is the internal component that connects the propeller hub to the tail shaft of the outboard motor, transmitting torque to the boat's propulsion. It is part of the final drive system and acts as a coupling element between the propeller hub and the drive shaft. Its design includes a vulcanized rubber insert that absorbs sudden shocks and impacts—such as contact with submerged objects—protecting both the propeller, the shaft and the transmission case from severe mechanical damage. The correct selection of the hub according to the type of propeller and the installed motor is essential to guarantee an efficient and vibration-free transmission.

When to replace this part?

The most obvious symptom of a deteriorated propeller core is the so-called "hub slip": the engine speeds up without the boat gaining speed proportionally, which indicates that the inner rubber has given way and has lost its transmission capacity. Abnormal vibrations may also appear in the axle or noises when accelerating suddenly. It is recommended to inspect the core after any impact with the bottom or submerged object, and replace it preventively during seasonal maintenance if cracks, deformations or visible wear are seen on the rubber insert; Postponing its change can lead to the transmission disassembling while sailing.
