Function and Technical Context

This gasket and seal kit acts as a sealing barrier in the transmission system and/or gearbox of Suzuki, Johnson and Evinrude outboard engines, preventing transmission oil leakage into the water and avoiding the entry of saltwater or freshwater into internal components. The lip seals and O-rings integrated in this kit seal the rotating shafts and static joints subjected to mechanical loads and temperature variations inherent to the marine environment. Deficient sealing causes contamination of the propulsion unit lubricant, accelerated corrosion of the gears and, in extreme cases, complete transmission seizure, resulting in total loss of propulsion. Reference REC25700-95D01 is compatible with Suzuki references 25700-95D00, 25700-95D01, 25700-95D02 and 25700-95D03, as well as OMC references 0769803, 5032167 and 5036040, guaranteeing its application across a wide range of engines in the E25, E30, J25 and J30 series.

When to Replace This Part?

The most common symptoms indicating deterioration of transmission seals and gaskets are the presence of an iridescent oil slick in the water around the motor foot, low oil level in the lower gearcase without apparent cause, or milky discoloration of the propulsion unit lubricant indicating water ingress. It is recommended to inspect the condition of these seals and gaskets at each annual haul-out or every 100 operating hours, and replace them whenever the lower gearcase is disassembled for any propeller or gear intervention. Performing the replacement preventively during seasonal maintenance is significantly more economical than addressing a transmission seizure breakdown at sea.
