When to replace this anode?

Other indications are the presence of pitting, erosion or discoloration on the metal surfaces of the shaft or saildrive components close to the anode, indicating that the cathodic protection has failed. It is recommended to inspect and replace the zinc anode at each annual docking, before the seasonal launch, and review its condition mid-year if the boat sails in waters with high conductivity or in areas with intense galvanic currents; Replacing it preventively is always more economical than repairing the GORI shaft or propeller due to corrosion.
