COLLARIN EJE Ø 1-1/ 4’’ STD (MG)
Description
Function and technical context
The shaft collar is an essential component of the transmission system in shaft-powered boats, whose mission is to axially fix the tail shaft and prevent its longitudinal displacement during engine operation. It works in the interface area between the engine and the shaft line, absorbing the thrust forces generated by the propeller in forward and reverse gear. A worn or poorly seated collar causes play in the shaft that results in abnormal vibrations, accelerated deterioration of the stuffing box and, in extreme cases, water entering the bilge. This 1-1/4'' diameter collar in standard finish (STD) is designed for installations requiring dimensional accuracy and a firm fit on the drive shaft.
When to replace this part?
Los síntomas más habituales de un collarín de eje en mal estado son las vibraciones perceptibles en el casco a régimen de crucero, el desgaste prematuro del prensaestopas o sello de eje, y el movimiento axial visible o audible del eje durante los cambios de marcha. It is recommended to inspect the collar during each annual seasonal maintenance, checking that it does not present cracks, galvanic corrosion or loss of tightening on the shaft. Replacing this element preventively in the event of any sign of slack prevents breakdowns in the transmission line that can leave the boat inoperative on the high seas.
