Description

Function and technical context

The Max Power propeller nut (ref. TEN01060) is the fixing element that anchors the propeller to the propulsion shaft, ensuring full transmission of engine torque from the drive tail to the blade. It works within the propulsion system, acting as a final closing element of the shaft-propeller assembly and preventing axial movement or torque from causing the propeller to loosen during navigation. Its integrity is critical: a damaged or incorrectly tightened nut can cause the propeller to disengage while sailing, a total loss of boat control and severe damage to the shaft or transmission eyebolt. The reference TEN01060 is manufactured in accordance with Max Power standards, guaranteeing the correct fit on the axles of the propulsion systems for which it is specified.

When to replace this part?

The most common symptoms that indicate that the propeller nut needs to be checked or replaced are: unusual vibration transmitted to the hull at low or medium revolutions, noticeable play in the propeller when moving it manually with the engine off, or visible signs of galvanic corrosion, deformation of the thread or loss of the safety pin. It is recommended to inspect the propeller nut at each grounding or seasonal maintenance, checking the specified torque, the condition of the thread and the locking pin. Preventatively replacing the nut at the slightest sign of wear prevents breakdowns at sea that can result in costly towing or damage to the tailshaft.
