Marine grease is a high consistency lubricant specifically formulated to protect friction points and mechanisms subjected to humidity, salt water and extreme conditions typical of the nautical environment. It is applied to joints, bearings, rudder horns, tail shafts, steering knuckles, cable connectors, trim mechanisms and any metal component exposed to galvanic corrosion and sea water. Its main function is to create a durable lubricant film that reduces mechanical wear, displaces moisture and prevents oxidation of contact surfaces. When to replace or replace this part?

The most common symptoms of lack of lubrication at the grease points are metallic noises in the joints, hardness or irregularity in the rudder rotation, vibrations in the tail shaft and the appearance of rust or visible corrosion in connectors and ball joints. It is recommended that all critical points of the boat be inspected and regreased at the beginning of each boating season and after any prolonged sailing in salt water.
