Function and technical context
The nautical compound in 1 liter format is a surface treatment and protection product designed specifically for the marine environment, where continuous exposure to salt water, ultraviolet radiation and humidity generate very aggressive deterioration conditions. It acts as a restoration, sealing and protective agent on surfaces of fiberglass (GRP), gelcoat and composite materials common in boat hulls and decks. Its application forms a protective layer that fills in micro-scratches, recovers the oxidized shine and creates a barrier against the penetration of moisture and polluting agents. Maintaining surfaces treated with this type of compound is essential to preserve the structural integrity of the gelcoat, prevent progressive discoloration and prolong the life of the hull without the need for costly beaching interventions.
When to replace or replace this product?
The signs that indicate the need to apply a nautical compound are clear: gelcoat with a matte or yellowish appearance, loss of shine in the surface work, presence of oxidation marks or calcareous deposits that are difficult to remove with conventional cleaning, and micro-scratches accumulated by rubbing with fenders or anchoring. It is recommended to carry out at least one application per nautical season, preferably during annual beaching maintenance, although in areas of high sunshine or frequent navigation it may be advisable to repeat the treatment mid-season. Applying the compound preventatively and regularly is the most effective way to avoid deep damage to the gelcoat that, if it progresses, would require more expensive abrasive polishing or structural repair work.
