OVAL ANODE 0.6Kg.
Description
Function and technical context
The oval sacrificial anodes are part of the boat's cathodic protection system, acting as an electrochemical shield between the hull and the water. Their mission is to concentrate galvanic corrosion on themselves, preserving the structural metal areas - keels, rudders, propellers and submerged appendages - against electrolytic wear generated by the potential difference between different metals in contact with the marine environment. Without cathodic protection that is correctly sized and in good condition, the submerged metal elements degrade progressively and silently, causing structural damage that requires costly repair. The reference TEN00300 responds to hull configurations where an oval profile anode is required, common in bottoms with irregular geometry or in applications to reinforce areas with greater electrolytic exposure.
When to replace this part?
The most obvious symptom that a sacrificial anode has completed its cycle is the visible reduction in its mass: when the anode has lost approximately 50% of its volume, it must be replaced before it is completely consumed and no longer protects adjacent surfaces. Incipient corrosion can also be detected on nearby metal elements – pitting on the keel, erosion on the rudder or degradation on exhaust flanges – indicating that the anode no longer offers sufficient protection. It is recommended to inspect and replace the anodes at least once per nautical season, taking advantage of the annual beaching; In waters with high electrical conductivity or high salinity, the inspection frequency should be greater. Replacing the anode preventively is the most economical maintenance measure to avoid structural repairs on site.
