Function and technical context

Sacrificial anodes such as Gori TEN01027 are part of the boat's cathodic protection system, acting as an electrochemical shield against galvanic corrosion that affects propellers, shafts, rudders and other submerged metal parts. This component is installed directly on the propeller or in its hub - depending on the corresponding Gori model - and is consumed in a controlled manner to preserve the noble metals of the propulsion assembly. Without adequate anodic protection, galvanic corrosion can irreversibly deteriorate high-cost components such as the propeller, tail shaft or bronze bushings, especially in salt or brackish water environments where the electrical conductivity of the medium is higher.

When to replace this part?

The clearest sign that the TEN01027 anode needs replacement is a mass loss of more than 50% of its initial volume, indicating that it no longer offers sufficient protection; In practice, if the anode appears very irregular, reduced or with metallic areas exposed to the touch, it should be changed immediately. It is recommended to check and replace the propeller anodes at least once per nautical season, or every time the boat is beached for any intervention in the hull. Acting preventively by changing the anode is the most economical measure to avoid replacing a Gori propeller or drive shaft, the cost of which is several times higher.
