Description

Function and technical context

The 27-11500M pump gasket is an essential sealing component in the cooling circuit of Mercury, Yamaha and Mariner outboard engines. This piece acts as a pressure barrier at the water pump interface, hermetically sealing the joint between moving components to prevent coolant leaks. Its function is critical in forced circulation systems, where it supports continuous thermal cycles and pressure fluctuations derived from the operation of the engine in navigation.

When to replace this part?

Symptoms of deterioration in pump seals include visible coolant leaks around the pump shaft, a drop in the antifreeze level without apparent cause, or intermittent overheating of the engine during navigation. It is recommended to inspect and, if in doubt, replace preventively during seasonal maintenance or when any intervention is carried out on the cooling system. Early replacement of this gasket prevents unexpected shutdowns at sea and secondary damage to the cooling circuit.
