SUZUKI GASOLINE CONNECTOR

Description
Function and technical context
This petrol connector is part of the fuel supply system in Suzuki DT series outboard engines, acting as a connecting element between the fuel hose from the tank and the engine pump or carburetor. Its function is to guarantee a continuous, tight and leak-free flow of petrol from the tank to the powertrain. A deteriorated, cracked connector or with a damaged retention system can cause fuel leaks, air entry into the supply circuit and, consequently, unexpected engine stops, starting failures or irregular navigation performance. The tightness of the connector is especially critical in outboard engines, where any petrol leak also poses a safety risk on board.
When to replace this part?
The most common symptoms of a bad fuel connector are the smell of fuel in the engine or stern area, difficulty in maintaining hose priming, excessive or insufficient resistance to the connector fitting, and small drops of petrol visible on the joints. The plastics and O-rings of the connector degrade with prolonged use, exposure to UV rays and continued contact with petrol, so it is recommended to inspect the condition of the connector during each seasonal maintenance and replace it if there is any sign of hardening, cracking or loss of sealing. Renewing this element preventively avoids breakdowns in the power system that can leave the boat without propulsion on the high seas.
