Function and technical context

This synthetic 10W40 motor oil is formulated specifically for outboard and outboard engines for nautical use, working in the lubrication system to reduce friction between moving parts, dissipate heat generated by combustion and protect internal components from corrosion caused by high salinity and humidity marine environments. Its multigrade 10W40 viscosity guarantees smooth cold starting and a stable lubricant film at high operating temperatures, maintaining adequate oil pressure under all conditions of use. It meets NMMA FC-11815R quality levels – the National Marine Manufacturers Association standard for marine engine oils – and API SJ/SG categories, ensuring advanced protection against wear, oxidation and deposit formation in lubrication circuits. An out-of-specification or degraded oil can cause premature wear of the crankshaft, connecting rods and liners, loss of power and, in extreme cases, engine seizure.

When to replace this oil?

The most common symptoms that indicate that the motor oil has lost its properties are increased lubricant consumption, the appearance of bluish smoke in the exhaust, metallic noises in the engine or a dark and viscous color of the oil when removing the dipstick. For nautical engines for recreational and intensive use, it is recommended to change the oil every season or every 100 hours of operation, always following the engine manufacturer's instructions. Replacing the oil preventively within the recommended interval is the most effective and economical measure to avoid serious breakdowns at sea and prolong the life of the engine.
