QC10WEP SPARK PLUG
Description
Function and technical context
The QC10WEP spark plug is part of the outboard engine's ignition system, being responsible for generating the electrical spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture in each combustion cycle. Its correct operation directly determines the energy efficiency of the engine, the smoothness of the idle and the acceleration response. A worn electrode or cracked insulator causes misfires, loss of power and increased fuel consumption which translates into shorter runs and higher operating costs. In outboard engines, where access to the workshop may be limited during navigation, having spark plugs in perfect condition is a guarantee of fundamental reliability.
When to replace this part?
The most common symptoms of a damaged spark plug are difficult or failed starts, jerks and power losses at different rpm, unstable idle and, in advanced cases, abnormal vibrations in the engine block. As a general rule of preventive maintenance on outboard engines, it is recommended to inspect the spark plugs every 100 hours of operation and replace them at least once a season or according to the engine manufacturer's instructions. Changing the spark plug preventively before each nautical season is a low-cost intervention that eliminates the risk of being left without starting in the open sea.
