ANODO GORI Ø 8mm (AL)
Description
Function and technical context
Sacrificial anodes are the key element in protecting against galvanic corrosion in boat propellers, shafts and transmissions. This aluminum anode with a shaft diameter of 8 mm is designed specifically for GORI propellers, acting as a sacrificial electrode that corrodes preferentially against the nobler metals of the propeller assembly. Being made of aluminum alloy, it is especially suitable for salty and brackish waters, where electrochemical corrosion is more aggressive. Without effective cathodic protection, the metal components of the propeller and shaft are exposed to accelerated deterioration that can compromise the structural integrity of the transmission and lead to high-cost repairs.
When to replace this part?
The clearest symptom that the anode needs replacement is the visible loss of mass: when it has consumed between 50% and 70% of its volume, it has reached the limit of its useful life and its protective capacity is seriously reduced. The inspection of the anodes should be carried out at least once a season, usually during the annual beaching, although in areas of high salinity or with intense galvanic currents it may be necessary to inspect them more frequently. Preventatively replacing the anode before it is completely depleted is the easiest and most economical way to prevent damage to the GORI propeller, shaft and drive accessories.
