The sacrificial anode 064-45371-01 is an anti-corrosion protection component that works in the cooling system of outboard motors, absorbing galvanic corrosion that occurs when the motor comes into contact with salt water or mineralized water. Its function is to protect itself rather than critical metal engine components such as blocks, cylinder heads, and heat exchangers. This electrochemical process is essential in vessels that operate in marine environments, where salinity accelerates the oxidation of iron, steel and aluminum.
