Description
Function and technical context
The propeller is the fundamental propulsion element that transforms the power of the engine into forward motion of the boat. This 11.60-inch pitch, 11-inch diameter aluminum propeller attaches directly to the engine output shaft, propelling water rearward to generate the necessary thrust to move the ship. Its right-hand rotation guarantees harmonious operation with the outboard motors for which it is designed, ensuring maximum propulsion efficiency and steering stability of the boat. Progressive wear of the blades, deformations or fractures directly compromise the cruising speed, fuel consumption and maneuverability of the ship.
When to replace this part?
Aluminum propellers suffer gradual wear due to cavitation, impacts with submerged objects and marine corrosion, manifesting in abnormal vibrations, loss of top speed, increased fuel consumption or erratic behavior during acceleration. It is recommended to inspect the propeller at the beginning of each season and after any impact or grounding, replacing it preventively if it presents deformations, cracks or chipped blades to avoid damage to the drive shaft and maintain optimal propulsion performance. Aluminum, although lightweight and inexpensive, requires frequent monitoring in salt water due to accelerated oxidation.
