Turbo Volvo 11423684

Function and technical context

The turbocharger is a key component of the engine's air supply system: it harnesses the energy of the exhaust gases to compress the intake air and increase the amount of oxygen entering the cylinders, resulting in greater power and combustion efficiency. It works in extreme conditions of temperature and rotation speed, acting as a link between the exhaust and intake systems. Its correct operation is essential to maintain engine performance and avoid excessive fuel consumption or incomplete combustion. Manufactured by SLP (Swedish Lorry Parts), a Swedish specialist with extensive experience in components for Volvo Penta engines, this turbo meets the technical specifications of catalog references 11423684, 9011423684, 11423083, 11423084, 11423085, 9011423084 and 3802154.

When to replace this part?

The most common symptoms of a damaged turbocharger include a noticeable loss of power and acceleration, bluish or black smoke from the exhaust, high oil consumption or high-pitched metallic noises coming from the turbo during operation. In continuously operating marine engines, it is recommended to inspect the turbocharger during each seasonal maintenance, paying special attention to the axial play of the shaft and the condition of the oil seals. Replacing the turbo at the first signs of wear prevents chain damage to the engine and costly breakdowns outside the port.
