MERCURY GASKET KIT 27-14697A87

Function and technical context

This gasket kit acts as a critical sealing element in the fuel and cooling systems of high-performance Mercury engines. The gaskets distributed throughout the assembly guarantee sealing between the different chambers of the engine, preventing coolant leaks, the entry of salt water and pressure losses in closed circuits. Poor sealing at these points leads to overheating of the engine block, accelerated internal corrosion and loss of power, compromising both the reliability and durability of the propeller in navigation.

When to replace this part?

The gaskets must be replaced when visible coolant leaks are detected, when the engine presents variations in its operating temperature or after any disassembly of components that affects the sealing areas. It is recommended to check their condition during each seasonal maintenance and replace them preventively in major interventions, since the cost of this kit is insignificant compared to the damage caused by an undetected leak at sea or during prolonged navigation.
