Function and technical context

This gasket kit is a complete set of sealing elements designed to maintain tightness in the internal circuits of Mercury 35 and 40 hp two-cylinder engines. The gaskets work in multiple critical points of the engine - cylinder head, crankcase, exhaust manifolds and cooling systems - preventing leaks of oil, cooling water and combustion gases. Its deterioration compromises the structural integrity of the propellant: it allows salt water infiltration into the combustion chamber, causes loss of lubricant and reduces compression pressure, leading to overheating and engine failure.

When to replace this part?

Gaskets show signs of aging when visible drips appear under the engine, abnormal smoke in the exhaust, increased coolant temperature or gradual loss of oil pressure. It is recommended to check its condition at each seasonal inspection and replace it preventively after 400-500 hours of operation or after interventions that require disassembling the cylinder head or crankcase.
