The accelerator cable is the mechanical element that transmits the movements of the throttle control from the control console to the engine carburetor, directly regulating the opening of the accelerator and, therefore, the entry of fuel and air into the combustion chamber. It works within the engine control system, being essential to modulate the available power and maintain the desired rpm during navigation. A cable in poor condition – worn, rusty or with excessive friction – causes slow or inaccurate throttle responses, loss of control over engine power and, in extreme cases, blockage or disconnection of the gas system in critical situations.
