It is recommended to inspect the bolt and its bushings at each in-depth engine inspection or when abnormal vibrations are detected in the crank train; For outboard motors with intensive use, this check should be carried out at least every two seasons. Replacing it preventively during opening of the block avoids higher cost breakdowns and the risk of becoming immobilized in the water.
