Description
Function and technical context
The propeller is the fundamental propulsion element of Yamaha outboard engines, responsible for transforming the engine's power into thrust to move the boat. It works integrated into the transmission system, coupled directly to the engine output shaft through the hub and retaining pins. A propeller in poor condition generates vibrations, reduces cruising efficiency, increases fuel consumption and can cause damage to the drive shaft and internal engine bearings.
When to replace this part?
Propeller deterioration manifests itself with progressive loss of acceleration, abnormal vibrations during navigation, acoustic cavitation under load, or visible deformation of the blades after impacts against submerged objects. It is recommended to inspect the propeller at least once at the beginning of each boating season and replace it if it shows cracks, bends, advanced erosion or loss of material. The preventive change in intensive use vessels avoids emergency repairs in the fishing or cruising area, guaranteeing optimal power and maneuverability.
