Function and technical context
The Multi-e Inox.new Saturn 14.30×17 propeller is the fundamental propulsion element of the power transmission system in Yamaha outboard motors. Mounted directly on the engine output shaft, it transforms rotating mechanical energy into hydrodynamic thrust, allowing the boat to move through the water. Made of high-strength stainless steel, it withstands extreme torsional stress, impacts against submerged objects and continuous salt corrosion. The right-hand rotation and the geometry of the 14.30-inch diameter blades with a 17-inch pitch are designed to maximize power transfer while maintaining the hydrodynamic balance of the propulsion system.
When to replace this part?
A damaged, deformed or cracked propeller generates excessive vibration, loss of traction and inefficient fuel consumption; If knocks, cavitation or visible wear is detected on the edges of the blades, it is time to replace it. It is recommended to check the condition of the propeller before each sailing season and after any impact with a submerged object, since initial micro-cracks can propagate during power maneuvers. Replacing the propeller preventively before the failure is evident avoids vibrations that damage bearings, seals and shaft bearings, which would result in costly repairs in the nautical workshop.
