Function and technical context
The Multi-D ALUM.AMITA3 13.30×17 propeller is the propulsion element that directly transforms the power of the engine into forward movement of the boat. Coupled to the output shaft by means of the hub, it generates the necessary thrust, moving the water backwards and allowing the ship to move. Its dimensions of 13.30 inches in diameter and 17 inches of pitch are calibrated to optimize the rotation speed and power curve in small and medium power engines. Blade wear, cavitation, impacts against submerged objects and marine corrosion cause a progressive loss of thrust, reduction of maximum speed, increase in fuel consumption and overstress of the engine.
When to replace this part?
Visual inspection is recommended at least once per boating season to detect cracks, dents, deformations in the blades or erosion of the leading edges. Symptoms indicating the need for replacement include abnormal engine vibration, loss of top speed without change in nominal revolutions, difficulty in reaching the planned RPM and a visible increase in fuel consumption compared to previous operation. Preventive replacement is advisable after any impact against rocks, submerged debris or floating objects, since even apparently minor damage affects hydrodynamic efficiency and significantly increases the risk of breakage during navigation.
