Description

Function and technical context

This 50 mm replacement anode for Beneteau boats works within the hull's cathodic protection system, acting as a sacrificial electrode to protect submerged metal elements - propeller, shaft, rudder and bronze or stainless steel accessories - against galvanic corrosion. Being manufactured to precisely adapt to the specific attachment points of the Beneteau helmet, it guarantees optimal electrical contact that maximizes its protective capacity. Without an anode in good condition, the galvanic current directly attacks the noble metals of the boat, causing irreversible damage to high-cost components such as the propeller or drive shaft. Its correct installation is, therefore, a fundamental preventive maintenance measure for any Beneteau owner.

When to replace this part?

Sacrificial anodes should be inspected at least once a season and replaced when they have lost approximately 50% of their mass, have a very irregular surface, or show deep cavities indicating accelerated wear. In boats that navigate in waters with high conductivity or that remain moored for long periods, consumption may be higher and require more frequent inspections. Replacing the anode at the beginning of each nautical season—even if it is not completely consumed—is a practice recommended by naval maintenance technicians to prevent structural metals from being left unprotected at the most critical time of the year.
