Auto-prop H5 propeller zinc anodes are cathodic protection elements specifically designed to defend the variable pitch propeller against galvanic corrosion in marine environments. They act as a sacrificial anode, that is, the zinc preferentially oxidizes, absorbing electrochemical corrosion that would otherwise attack the metal of the propeller and its internal mechanical components. The Auto-prop H5 propeller is a self-propelled variable pitch system whose mechanical precision depends largely on keeping its metal parts intact; Any pitting or galvanic degradation on your blades or hub can compromise propulsion performance and cause imbalances that affect the shaft and bearings. The zinc anode with reference CMPNH5 is designed to fit exactly to the geometry of this propeller, guaranteeing effective protective coverage without interfering in the hydrodynamic behavior of the assembly.

When to replace this part?

The clearest indicator of wear in a zinc anode is the visible reduction in its mass: when the anode has lost approximately half of its volume, it must be replaced without delay, since its cathodic protection capacity is seriously reduced. In waters with high conductivity or in boats moored near electrical installations with current leaks, consumption can be noticeably faster than usual. As a preventive maintenance rule, it is recommended to inspect and replace the Auto-prop H5 propeller anode at least once a season or at each maintenance beaching, thus avoiding galvanic corrosion on a propulsion component whose repair or replacement is considerably more expensive.
