Function and technical context

The NGK CPR6EA-9 spark plug is the element responsible for generating the spark that starts combustion in each cylinder of the outboard engine. It works directly in the ignition system, subjected to continuous cycles of high electrical voltage and extreme temperatures within the combustion chamber. A bad spark plug causes misfires, difficult starts, excessive fuel consumption and a noticeable loss of power and engine response. The precision of the electrode and the thermal range of this NGK reference are adjusted to the specifications of the Suzuki engines for which it is indicated, guaranteeing clean and efficient combustion in each cycle.

When to replace this part?

The most common symptoms of a worn spark plug include difficulty or failure to start, irregular engine running (rattling or "missing" at idle), increased fuel consumption and reduced acceleration. In frequently used outboard engines, it is recommended to check the spark plugs every nautical season or approximately every 100 hours of navigation, replacing them if they show wear on the electrode, carbon deposits or cracks in the insulator. Changing the spark plugs preventively at the beginning of the season is one of the most economical interventions to avoid unexpected breakdowns in the water.
