Which boat is it for?

With 400 hp, this engine suits center consoles, cruisers and boats of 9 to 13 metres, usually with two or more engines. As a Verado, it adds exceptionally smooth, quiet running and integrated power steering. The right power depends on the hull: never exceed the maximum power on your boat's capacity plate.

What the 400 CL DTS V10 AMS version means

• 20" shaft (508 mm): for transoms about 51 cm high. Measure your transom before choosing; ask us if in doubt.
• DTS digital controls: electronic throttle and shift with no mechanical cables; smooth, precise response. Requires a DTS control.
• Counter rotation: the propeller turns the opposite way. Paired with a standard-rotation engine in twin installs to balance torque and keep the boat tracking straight.
• Black colour: Mercury's classic finish; also available in Cold White.
