The Volvo Penta anode ref. 3807400 is a cathodic sacrificial component designed to protect Volvo Penta DPH and DPR propulsion systems against galvanic corrosion. This anode is installed in diesel propulsion units in saline environments and acts by dissipating the electrochemical activity that would degrade the noble materials of the engine and transmission.
As a preventive maintenance consumable item, the anode should be periodically inspected and replaced when 50% or greater worn, ensuring the long-term structural integrity of marine propulsion.
