ANODE INGOT W/INSERT 1.9Kg.
Description
Function and technical context
Sacrificial anodes in ingot format with insert are cathodic protection elements designed to defend the submerged metal surfaces of the vessel against galvanic corrosion. They act as the negative pole of the galvanic couple, degrading in a controlled manner to preserve more valuable structures such as the hull, tailshaft, propeller and thru-hulls. The integrated metal insert facilitates secure attachment of the anode to the boat structure, ensuring reliable electrical contact and stable hold even in demanding sailing conditions. Without effective cathodic protection, the vessel's noble metals are exposed to progressive electrochemical attack that can compromise the structural integrity of critical hull and propulsion system components.
When to replace this part?
Sacrificial anodes must be inspected at least once a season and replaced when they show wear greater than 50% of their mass, regardless of the time elapsed, since from that point on their protective capacity decreases significantly. In boats that remain in water throughout the season or in areas with high water conductivity (marines with high galvanic currents), it is advisable to check their condition every three or four months. Replacing the anode preventively at the beginning of each nautical season is the most efficient practice to avoid corrosion damage to components whose repair is significantly more expensive.
