FAIRLINE ANODE 4Kg.
Description
Function and technical context
The Fairline sacrificial anode reference TEN00271E is part of the boat's cathodic protection system, acting as a galvanic element that corrodes in a controlled manner to preserve the structural metal surfaces and the most valuable underwater components. Its mission is to intercept the electrolytic corrosion that occurs when different metals coexist in a conductive medium such as salt or brackish water, preventing the attack from affecting propellers, shafts, shaft seals, rudders and metal hulls. Without adequate cathodic protection, galvanic corrosion can irreversibly damage high-cost parts in a very short time, especially in mooring areas with high electrical conductivity. This anode is made of zinc alloy, the reference material for boats that navigate in seawater, providing effective and long-lasting protection throughout the entire navigation season.
When to replace this part?
Sacrificial anodes should be visually inspected at least at the beginning and end of each season: when the anode has lost approximately 50% of its mass or has an irregular surface with deep craters, it should be replaced immediately to ensure continuity of protection. If signs of pitting or surface erosion are detected on the shaft, propeller or metal hull, it is a sign that the anode is depleted or that the installation lacks sufficient anodic mass. Preventive replacement at the beginning of each season, without waiting for wear to be complete, is the practice recommended by nautical maintenance professionals to avoid costly repairs in the docking workshop.
