1/8 REPLACEMENT PLUG
Description
Function and technical context
The 1/8" replacement plug is a closing component used in cooling, lubrication or drainage circuits of outboard and stationary marine engines, where it acts as a sealing element in threaded access or drainage holes. Its main function is to guarantee the tightness of the conduit or housing in which it is installed, preventing the entry of salt water, dirt or polluting agents into the system. A damaged plug, with a damaged thread or with hardened material, can cause leaks. imperceptible that lead to internal corrosion, loss of fluid or, in cooling circuits, episodes of engine overheating. The reference CMEP00 is designed to fit precisely into the standard 1/8" thread, being a direct replacement part to restore the tightness of the affected drain or closure point.
When to replace this part?
The most common symptoms that indicate the need to change a 1/8" drain plug or closure are the presence of moisture or traces of fluid around the threading point, difficulty in correctly tightening the plug or excessive play that indicates wear of the thread, and visible marks of galvanic corrosion on the head or body of the part. It is recommended to inspect this type of plug at each seasonal inspection and replace them preventively whenever they show signs of rust or deformation, since the cost of the part is minimal compared to the damage that an unattended leak can cause during navigation.
