Function and technical context
The fuel pressure regulator is a critical component in the power system of Yamaha outboard engines, responsible for maintaining a constant fuel pressure to the carburetor or injection system. This device works within the fuel supply line, between the tank and the carburetor, automatically regulating the pressure to adapt to the operating conditions of the engine. A faulty regulator causes fluctuations in fuel pressure, resulting in unstable idling, loss of acceleration, excessive petrol consumption or even unexpected stops while cruising.
When to replace this part?
Typical symptoms of governor failure include difficult starting, idle fluctuations, progressive loss of power, and fuel leaks at the governor connections.
