Function and technical context

Winterizing oil in spray format is specifically formulated to protect the cylinders, pistons and internal components of the outboard or inboard engine during periods of prolonged shutdown, especially in the winter months. Applied directly to internal metal surfaces through the spark plug or carburetor holes, it creates a protective anti-corrosion film that prevents oxidation caused by moisture and condensation accumulated during storage. Without this protection, contact between bare metal and interior moisture can cause corrosion pitting in the cylinders, ring sticking, and starting difficulties at the start of the next season. Its use is especially critical in marine engines due to the aggressiveness of the saline environment in which they operate.

When to apply this product?

Winter oil should be applied at the end of the boating season, just before storing the boat, as part of the process of preparing for winter storage. Indicators that this step has been omitted or insufficient usually appear at the beginning of the next season: difficult starting, metallic noises in the cold engine, loss of compression or visible corrosion marks on the cylinders when removing the spark plugs. Its annual application is recommended without exception, regardless of the length of the shutdown period, since even a few weeks of inactivity in a humid environment can initiate internal oxidation processes. Incorporating this spray into your end-of-season maintenance protocol is the most cost-effective preventive measure to ensure reliable starting and prolong engine life.
