ANODE NANNI MERCEDES
Description
Function and technical context
This sacrificial anode for Mercedes-based Nanni engines is designed to protect metal parts submerged or in contact with cooling water through the cathodic protection process. It acts as a consumable electrode in the cooling system and in the metal structure of the engine, attracting galvanic corrosion to itself and thus preserving critical components such as the engine block, heat exchanger or water jackets. Without effective anodic protection, galvanic corrosion progressively degrades the metallic components of the propellant, especially in salt or brackish water environments, and can lead to high-cost structural failures.
When to replace this part?
Sacrificial anodes must be inspected at the beginning of each nautical season and replaced when they show wear greater than 50% of their mass or when they show an irregular, cracked surface or deposits that indicate saturation. In installations with salt water or areas with high electrical conductivity, the consumption rate can be considerably higher, so it is recommended to check its condition every 150-200 hours of operation or at least once a season. Replacing the anode preventively is the most economical measure to avoid corrosion damage to high-cost components such as the block, exhaust manifold or intercooler.
