Function and technical context

Quicksilver Diesel 15W40 oil is an engine lubricant specifically formulated for four-stroke marine diesel engines, acting directly in the lubrication system to reduce friction between internal components such as pistons, crankshaft and camshaft. Its 15W40 multigrade viscosity guarantees adequate protection both at cold start and under full thermal load conditions during navigation, maintaining a stable lubricant film throughout the engine's operating range. When operating in a marine environment, where humidity, corrosion and variable load cycles are constant, a quality Mercury Marine approved lubricant is critical to preserving the mechanical integrity of the engine and preventing premature wear of its internal components. The format in a box of 3 4-liter bottles (12 liters in total) allows complete oil changes to be carried out with a single supply, minimizing the risk of running out of stock during the navigation season.

When to replace this oil?

Degradation of marine diesel engine oil is usually manifested by a deep black color and dirty appearance when checking the dipstick, increased lubricant consumption, metallic noises in the engine during start-up or a higher operating temperature due to the loss of cooling properties of the lubricant. For Mercury Marine and Mercruiser marine diesel engines, the recommended change interval is generally 100 hours of operation or at the beginning of each boating season, whichever comes first. Respecting these intervals preventively is the most effective measure to avoid costly damage to the engine chamber when the boat is at sea.
